Cleveland Indians Announce Tweaks to Uniforms

The Cleveland Indians today unveiled slight tweaks to two of their in-game uniforms as well as their batting practice jersey in time for the 2012 season.

The changes were made to the home white, alternate blue and batting practice jerseys, the two in-game jerseys added collar piping and all three involved simplifying the script.

A side-by-side comparison of the 2011 and 2012 Cleveland Indians home jerseys

The Indians described the changes to the home and alternate jerseys themselves via an official media release…

Home Whites
The traditional home white uniform will sport a front script “Indians” two-layer red and navy blue applique, navy blue trim around the collar combined with the navy blue and red cap with the Chief Wahoo logo.

Alternate Blues
The alternate road navy uniform will showcase a front script “Indians” two-layer red and white applique, gray trim around the collar paired with a solid navy blue cap with the Chief Wahoo logo.

Batting Practice
The blue batting practice uniform arched-script INDIANS logo has also been reduced to two colour, from red-on-blue-on-white to simply red-on-white.

Also eliminated was the piping down the front of both these jerseys, the road grey jersey and the cream heritage alternate jersey will both remain the same as they looked in 2011.

  1. Zach says:

I honestly liked the plain C as their cap logo, I thought it really added something to the team.

  2. ACL RIP says:

the C looks nice, they face looks racist.

  3. Dan says:

The C logo was boring. Very little character with a block print logo. I was afraid the C caps were the Indians way of slowly phasing out Chief Wahoo, due to percieved political incorrectness, so im glad hes back to a full time cap logo. Hes one of the greatest logos in sports imo.

  4. Daniel says:

Nice changes. They now look almost identical to the mid-90s unis, back before they started adding all the unnecessary outlines to the script.

  5. Ryan says:

AND JUST WENT WE THOUGHT THE CHANGES TO THE MARLINS, ROYALS, AND PADRES WERENT BAD ENOUGH,….CLEVELAND HAS TRASHED THE ONLY GOOD LOOK THEY HAD….get rid of the ugly c, leave the indian on the hat

  6. Alzo says:

This is a missed opportunity to reform the odious Chief Wahoo. There are very good ways to depict American Indians with respect (see Chicago Black Hawks and Florida State Seminoles), but this is not one of them. This clownish mascot is no better than the Frito Bandito. Get a better Indian, Cleveland- one you can be proud of.

  7. Trevor McCue says:

These changes have nothing to do with the C cap. The C was worn with road uni, home throwback alt, and batting practice. The batting practice still has the C and the road and home alt are unchanged. They eliminated the extra white striping, that is it.

  8. I LIKE THE CLEVELAND INDIANS UNIFORM AND THE C LOGO
